IPv6

Had a nice conversation with John Curran, President and CEO at ARIN (American Registry for Internet Numbers) on Wednesday, at SuperNova in SF. Besides reminiscing about the good ‘ol days at BBN and developing the early Internet, John is asking for everyone to please configure, turn-on IPv6 on all your servers.

Few notes…

  • IPv6 is already installed on virtually all servers; just needs to be enabled;
  • Do NOT turn-off IPv4; the two namespaces may cohabitate;
  • IPv6 is on your PC too; you can enable it too, but it is really the servers that matter.

It is requested of all servers you control or have any influence over, including the one in your basement right up to your monster data centers, please configure, turn-on IPv6.
